The Quiet Room of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen offers students, staff and visitors the opportunity to reflect, catch their breath, pray or read something. The center has an atmosphere of peace and calm and is arranged in such a way that everyone, of whatever confession or religion, can go there at any time of the day.
On the writing table in the Quiet Room is a Bible and a Quran in which one can read. There is also a book in which a few words, a thought, a wish, a prayer or a story can be written down.
The reason for setting up the Quiet Room was the request of three Indonesian students. They were looking for a space within the Hanze University of Applied Sciences to pray. The realisation of the Quiet Room is in line with the spearhead of 'active tolerance' and the diversity policy of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen.
