Martien Visser Dr. ir.

Martien Visser (1958) works for Gasunie as Manager Corporate Strategy. He has an Applied Physics degree from the the Technical University of Eindhoven. Later he obtained a PhD at Delft University of Technology where he wrote a thesis about the use of coal for electricity production. Martien started his career in wind energy. He later worked for the International Flame Research Foundation in IJmuiden. Since 1992, he has been employed by Gasunie where he has held various positions in the technical and economic fields.

Martien is a Fellow of the Clingendael International Energy Programme (CIEP). During his installation as Lecturer Energy & Networks, Martien gave a speech with the key message: I want to contribute to a reliable and affordable, and therefore socially acceptable, energy transition through an integrated vision of the energy infrastructure.

The Energy Transition professorship of the Hanzehogeschool encompasses three teaching assignments: Energy Transition & Networks (Dr Martien Visser), Hydrogen Applications (Dr Jan-Jaap Aué) and System Integration in Energy Transition (Dr Marten van der Laan). This professorship is part of EnTranCe | Centre of Expertise Energy and the Institute of Engineering.
