The job of a communication adviser isn’t what it used to be. With media and society changing so fast, comms pros have to constantly adapt. Organizations don’t exist in a bubble—they’re part of a world where online conversations can spark social issues overnight. If they don’t respond quickly (and smartly), small issues can blow up into full-blown crises that damage their reputation.

In this project, you’ll work in groups to dig into a real issue and explore two core skills:

  1. Issues management – spotting, tracking, and understanding problems before they explode.
  2. Dealing with the media – knowing how to handle journalists, headlines, and hot takes.

Your tasks include:

  • Monitoring and analyzing media buzz.
  • Researching issues and how stakeholders spin them.
  • Understanding the bigger picture (the external environment).
  • Spotting newsworthy angles.
  • Creating clear, strategic media advice for an organization.

And because words aren’t always enough, your advice will also include a visual component. In the Visual Communication part of the project, you’ll learn to use design tools to turn your message into something eye-catching and easy to understand.

You’ll also research a global citizenship topic of your choice and deliver a presentation that shows strong research, solid arguments, and smart use of visuals.

On top of that, you’ll practice debating skills—researching a proposition, then either defending or challenging it in a live debate. Finally, in the Language component, you’ll get hands-on with practical writing skills: crafting professional press releases (linked to your project) and sharpening your letter-writing game.
