Dr Aletta Smits

Aletta Smits has been appointed professor of Human-Centered Technology at Hanze, effective August 2024. She is also currently affiliated with the Human-Computer Interaction department at Utrecht University. Prior to this, she worked at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences as professor and associate professor of Human Experience & Media Design. Aletta researches digital transformation from the perspective of all stakeholders involved, with a focus on human behaviour, values and interests. In her research, she collaborates with educators, designers and partners from the healthcare sector, politics and other domains.

Professorship Digital Transformation

The professorship investigates digital transformation: the fundamental improvement or redesign of processes, products and services through the use of digital technology. Within the Human-Centred Technology research program, the focus is on investigating the interaction between people and technology and how design influences that interaction.

The professorship is part of the Centre of Expertise Entrepreneurship and is affiliated with Hanze's Institute for Communication, Media & IT.

Pre-event Programme: “Human-Centered Technology in Action”

Prior to the inauguration, the Professorship Digital Transformation will organise a number of inspiring workshops from 1:30 p.m., provided by professors, researchers and future PhD students. You can also take part in a test of an application built by students. Upon arrival, you can choose which two workshops appeal to you most.

Language

The meeting will be held in English. For those who are less familiar with the English language, a Dutch version of the speeches will be made available upon arrival.
