Nationwide public transport strike on 9 September

A nationwide public transport strike has been announced for Wednesday 9 September 2026. The strike will last 24 hours. Staff across the entire public transport sector – including the NS, regional transport and city transport – will be downing tools.

The FNV trade union has stated that the 24-hour strike for regional transport will begin at the start of the service schedule. For city transport and rail services, the exact start and end times will be announced later – please keep an eye on updates via 9292 and the NS app. For students and staff who travel to Hanze by public transport, the strike may cause considerable disruption. As Hanze, we have no influence over the announced strike.

Buildings open, teaching and assessments will go ahead as normal

The buildings will be open as usual. Teaching and exams will also continue as usual during public transport strikes. We expect you to try to arrange alternative transport, such as carpooling. If you really are unable to get to Hanze because of the strike, please discuss this with your programme.
