A large part of the Dutch population feels inhibited or insufficiently motivated to participate in our sports culture. Several factors play a role in this. For example, you need sufficient skills, motivation and knowledge to participate. Moreover, you should also be able to choose your own sports and exercise options that suit you and make them sustainable. On the other hand, there should also be a suitable and motivating range of options. To achieve this, increasingly options are being developed in cooperation with the target group.

Research among inactive Dutch people shows that they often do not find sufficient connection with the current range of options. But often there are more reasons why some people don't participate in sports, such as a lack of motivation, resilience, other exercise buddies and a stimulating and inclusive environment. Within this theme, we pay extra attention to increasing equality of opportunity. There is a great need for knowledge and new interventions and we are committed to developing trend-breaking interventions. Our ambition is to make sports and exercise possible and motivating for as many target groups as possible.
