Dr Ineke Haakma works as senior researcher for the professorship Arts Education of the Research Centre Art & Society.
Her research line is titled ‘The Voice of Children and Youth’. This line of research focuses on the opinions, experiences and lived worlds of children and youth in relation to the arts. Key themes include creativity, cultural identity, play, curiosity, wonder, and space for experimentation and failure.
In The Voice of Children and Youth, research is conducted in innovative, creative ways of giving children and young people a voice, inspired by the arts. The arts are interpreted broadly, including visual arts, music, theatre, dance, photography, poetry, children’s literature, film, and more.
Ineke studied Clinical and Developmental Psychology as well as Educational Sciences (cum laude). She obtained her PhD in Special Needs Education. She then worked as lecturer, postdoctoral researcher and senior researcher in various departments, degree programmes and research groups at the University of Groningen, Lentis Research and Hanze University of Applied Sciences.
