Dr Krista de Wit is part of the professorship Music in Context as senior researcher, focusing on new collaborative partnerships of live music practices in social and healthcare contexts.
In recent years Krista has worked on the research projects REVA BEATS, Meaningful Music in Healthcare (MiMiC) and Professional Excellence in Meaningful Music in Healthcare (ProMiMiC).
She also teaches at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, where she leads specialisation courses on musicking in healthcare, and develops transdisciplinary education for supporting interprofessional music-in-health partnerships. In recent years, Krista has worked as a musician in various healthcare contexts.
Krista completed two Master of Music degrees programmes at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (2011–2015).
Ze is in november 2020 gepromoveerd aan de University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW). Krista’s promotieonderzoek richtte zich op de betekenis van participerende persoonsgerichte muzieksessies voor zorgprofessionals.
Voor haar onderzoekrswerk heeft Krista prijzen gewonnen. Haar masteronderzoek naar het creëren van een participerende muziekproject voor Finse ouderen met dementie in Stockholm is in 2013 bekroond met de Kerstin Eliasson-prijs voor uitmuntend onderzoek. Krista was finalist voor de Synergy Award 2021 van het Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO), en in 2022 werd ze prijswinnares van de Herta & Kurt Blaukopf Award voor exceptioneel promotieonderzoek bij het MDW.
