From 20 to 24 April 2026, the Social Work programme at Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen will host the International University Week (IUW). As part of the European SOCNET network, IUW offers a unique opportunity for students and lecturers from across Europe to come together and explore current social issues, exchange best practices, and discover innovative approaches in the field of social work.

Participants will take part in lectures, workshops, field visits, and interactive discussions on international and topical themes in social work. The programme also includes a rich cultural and social agenda, creating an inspiring and enriching experience.

What is IUW?

IUW is an annual initiative of the SOCNET network, bringing together universities and universities of applied sciences from across Europe. Each edition is hosted by a different SOCNET member, contributing to a diverse and international learning environment. The week focuses on exchange, interdisciplinary learning, and professional development through themed sessions, case studies and interactive formats.

Participating in IUW gives students:

✔ An international perspective on social work
✔ Intercultural skills and valuable networking opportunities
✔ Practical insights through case studies and hands-on assignments

We look forward to welcoming students and lecturers from all over Europe to Groningen for an inspiring week of international collaboration and knowledge exchange!
