CMGT student outside

Jihan's interest in Creative Media & Game Technologies (CMGT) began with a recommendation from a friend who understood the challenges of struggling with timed exams. Encouraged by that experience and the believe that the hands-on projects would be an enjoyable fit, Jihan chose to explore CMGT.

Discovering life at CMGT

'Being a student here is both absolutely amazing and much tougher than I expected. The on-campus resources are such a perk for someone like me who had never even seen a 3D printer or had access to a sewing machine.'

A first glimpse into the industry

'One experience I'll remember most about this year was going to the INDIGO exposition in Rotterdam at the World Trade Center through an opportunity provided by Hanze. It was such a surreal experience for someone like me who had never even considered a proper career in this field. I helped development teams find bugs in their programming and met so many cool people working on exciting projects.'

Finding my direction

'Since starting Creative Media and Game Technologies, I have a much better idea of what I could be doing within this field and the direction in which I want to take my future career. It has been extremely helpful to experiment with the different skills within this programma and see exactly which ones bring me the most joy and fulfillment.'

From generalist to specialist

'The best thing I could tell someone who's thinking about joining CMGT is the honest truth: don't join expecting to learn how to make triple A games immediately. You are taught to be a generalist in the first year, then start specializing in the second. My favorite part about this programme is how I can take my time learning different important skills which will make me more capable in the field compared to others.'
