
Being able to accurately assess the causes and consequences of a (health) problem in order to be able to plan, carry out and evaluate fitting care was and is viewed as one of the most essential professional basic skills in medical, paramedical and nursing professions. The development of our professorship has led to a wide diagnostic knowledge framework in the area of professional diagnostics, social diagnostics and technological diagnostics.

In this research line we explore how to make sure that people receive care that matches their personal wishes, especially when they may find it hard or impossible to make or communicate their own care decisions.
