Social Inclusion of People with Severe Mental Health Problems

Through this research, the implementation of the knowledge and through professional development within long-term mental healthcare, we aim on the one hand to increase the participation of people with mental health disabilities and at the same time equip the professional adequately to work in a recovery-oriented way.

Our research takes place within the following four themes:

  1. Development and implementation of rehabilitation and recovery-oriented working in mental healthcare.
  2. Deinstitutionalisation of long-term mental healthcare.
  3. Transformation of the social domain.
  4. Professionalisation in long-term mental healthcare.

The professorship fits very well within the three strategic themes of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the field of Healthy Ageing: equal opportunities and participation, vulnerability and fitting health care and a healthy lifestyle and living environment
