Gerard Schepers is professor of Wind Energy at Entrance - Centre of Expertise Energy. He focuses on reducing costs and increasing social acceptance of wind energy and training future professionals.
Gerard Schepers graduated in the Department of Aerospace Engineering of TU Delft. He specialises in aerodynamics and the technical aspects of Wind Energy. Together with colleagues, he researches how to make wind turbines more efficient and reliable, but also how to create more social support for them.
Gerard believes that education and research are inextricably linked, as he writes in his inaugural lecture: "In this speech, I make a distinction between education and research, but I only do so because everyone else does. I myself have never really understood this distinction. That's because I always look around me in my research activities and consider what new knowledge is suitable to pass on to students in whatever way possible. Conversely, we always work together with students in research projects."
