As senior researcher Art & Technology, Rosa Wevers conducts research on questions at the intersection of art, technology and society. She coordinates the research strand Art & Technology within the professorship Image in Context, and develops collaborations with social partners. In her research, Rosa adopts an artistic and critical stance towards technology, in which the creative possibilities of technology are always considered alongside its social and ecological impact.
Rosa completed her PhD research at Utrecht University, where she studied European art exhibitions and curatorial practices centred on the theme of ‘surveillance’. Her research provides insight into how artists and curators help citizens to gain a foothold in the surveillance society, for instance by making the complex implications of surveillance visible. As part of her research, she curated the exhibition Face Value in 2021, in collaboration with IMPAKT [Centre for Media Culture] and the Netherlands Film Festival (NFF).
Alongside her role as senior researcher, Rosa also works as a curator of exhibitions and panels, and is one of the makers of the podcast ‘Kunstmatig’. Rosa is affiliated with the professorship Image in Context, part of the Research Centre Art & Society.
