In addition to sustainable making practices, she focuses on sustainable (art) education, centring environmentally just and socially conscious learning how to make. Recurring aspects include caring for materials, tools, machines, the makers’ bodies (including their minds), and the (making) environment.

She is currently completing her PhD research Curious Hands in Educational Workshop. Teaching-learning Making in the Art Academy as part of the NWO-funded project Curious Hands. Moving Making to the Core of Education (2020-2026). In her dissertation, she demonstrates how making is explicitly learnt and taught in educational workshops at art academies. She maps out these learning processes and gives a voice to those—the workshop teachers—who pass on so-called tacit knowledge on a daily basis, but whose contribution to students’ knowledge acquisition often remains under-exposed.
