Do you want to use electrical engineering to contribute to the energy transition? Energy & Power Electronics is one of three majors within the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme. You learn how electrical energy is generated, converted and transported, and work on smart solutions for reliable and efficient energy systems.

Energy & Power Electronics is all about electrical energy and the technology needed to use it efficiently and reliably. You explore energy systems and power electronics and learn to work with electronics designed for high-power applications. You also discover how to keep electricity grids stable and safe when energy comes from different sources.

With this knowledge, you work on technical solutions for the energy transition. You explore how electrical engineering can contribute to converting and transporting sustainable energy, reliable electricity grids and electrical drive systems. This prepares you to help create smarter, more efficient and more sustainable energy systems.

Throughout the programme, you put what you learn directly into practice. You work on challenging, hands-on projects for companies and other real-world clients. This gives you valuable professional experience during your studies while working on solutions for current energy challenges.

What can you do with Energy & Power Electronics?

After graduation, you can work for a wide range of companies and organisations in the Netherlands and abroad. You could work on electricity grids, sustainable energy systems, power electronics or electrical drive systems.

With your knowledge of electrical engineering and energy systems, you could work for energy companies, grid operators or engineering companies involved in energy generation, electrification and industrial applications. Energy & Power Electronics prepares you for a range of opportunities in a field where the energy transition plays an increasingly important role.

Admission & application

The Energy & Power Electronics major is part of the full-time bachelor Electrical and Electronic Engineering. During the first two years, you build a broad foundation in electrical engineering. After the second year, you specialise in your chosen major
