At the Hanze Sequencing Facility, microbiome profiling makes it possible to study entire communities of microorganisms, such as fungi and viruses, in a wide range of environments, including the human body, soil and water. This enables the identification of large numbers of microbes, rapid and detailed analysis of their genetic composition, and a deeper understanding of their functions.

With our genomic profiling solutions, key genetic variants can be accurately detected, including single nucleotide polymorphisms, copy-number variations, structural variants and chromosomal abnormalities. Genomic profiling also enables improved characterization of pathogens and supports the establishment of accurate disease diagnostics.

At the Hanze Sequencing Facility, we offer epigenomic profiling techniques based on Oxford Nanopore technology. These methods allow us to identify regulatory changes in cells that influence gene expression and cellular function. As a result, deeper insights are provideded into disease mechanisms, stem performance, environmental responses and adaptive biology.

Transcriptomic profiling reveals which genes are active and how they are regulated, providing a clear picture of what is happening inside a cell. This insight can drive innovation in the healthcare, agricultural, environmental and biotechnology sectors. By using this technology, we identify bottlenecks, uncover regulatory mechanisms, discover biomarkers (molecules in bodily fluids or tissues that indicate disease or health) and identify actionable targets (molecules useful for diagnosis or treatment), and monitor responses to interventions.

With our advanced translatomic profiling technology, we map protein synthesis and reveal how genes are converted into proteins. As a result, insights are provided in where the process starts, how quickly it proceeds, and where potential bottlenecks or hidden instructions (additional genetic cues) may be located within the protein synthesis process. This technology is used, for example, in precision medicine and in research on how the human body responds to medications.
