Lectoraat Rehabilitatie

Rehabilitation

The professorship Rehabilitation focuses on the social participation and societal functioning of people who experience barriers to participation due to, among other things, mental health issues, addiction and/or somatic conditions, acquired brain injury, intellectual disabilities or homelessness.

The professorship works closely with a wide range of internal and external partners on research and innovation in the field of rehabilitation. Based on questions from professional practice, the breadth of the rehabilitation knowledge domain, and the overarching research theme Equal opportunities & participation, the professorship has defined two central research areas:

  • Supported Learning (student wellbeing)

  • Expert by Experience in Health & Well-being

Research areas

  • Begeleid leren

    Supported Learning (student wellbeing)

Many young people experience mental health, cognitive or psychosocial challenges that can hinder their progress in education and reduce future employment opportunities. The research area 'Supported Learning' focuses on supporting students in choosing, accessing and completing mainstream education by developing practical tools, services and knowledge, in close collaboration with national and international partners, lecturer-researchers and students with lived experience.

  • Ervaringsdeskundigheid

Expert by Experience in Health & Well-being

The research area 'Expert by Experience in Health & Well-being' focuses on research and innovation on the professional use of lived experience in health and social care. We work with people with lived experience, professionals, organisations and municipalities in the Northern Netherlands. Together, we develop and implement practical knowledge, tools and services. These support people with vulnerabilities or disabilities in areas such as mental health, addiction, poverty, homelessness and acquired brain injury.
