About this minor

In this international programme, we try to offer you insight in the dynamics of managing IT in an organisation and provide you with the essential methods and principles to be effective as manager or participant in the world of IT and Business. In culturally mixed teams you will carry out consultancy assignments at IT companies in the Groningen area.

Today, IT is everywhere and its importance is still growing. In practically all organisations business processes are supported by IT, and increasingly IT is the main product of companies. Unfortunately in practice a lot of opportunities to use IT to its best, are lost. To optimally use IT, IT Management is paramount.

To meet all kinds of conflicting demands, a lot of IT organisations are a transition from a structured traditional way of working to a new agile way of working. Agile, Scrum, SaFe and Devops are today's leading methods in IT management.

In this minor we will teach you how these methods can be used to optimize the cooperation between the business and IT.  We also strive improve your collaboration skills and bring you close to practice through field trips, company visits, workshops and teambuilding activities, all led by experienced teachers.

What you will learn:

  • Major market standards: Agile SCRUM for managing IT projects and ITIL4 for IT service management
  • Improving process performance with LEAN
  • The impact of (international) cultures by using the Schein and Hofstede models
  • IT Outsourcing tactics and IT Governance frameworks
  • Agile Governance frameworks like SaFe
  • Management and consultancy skills
  • Written and verbal skills in the English language
  • Work effectively in an international team

Before you can start

This minor is open to all students from Hanze UAS, students from other universities in the Netherlands (KOM) and exchange students. You have to be in the main phase of your study. A propaeduetic certificate is not required.
