The current labor market is under pressure due to a shortage of personnel and a growing demand for specialized skills. In this context, it is crucial to recognize and utilize the valuable contributions of experienced professionals.

At a time when the labor market is becoming increasingly tight and major transitions require skilled professionals, the project "Groundbreaking Perspective for a Sustainable Region" focuses on a group that is often overlooked: workers aged 55 and over. This innovative program, a collaboration between Hanze, RUG, UMCG, NHL Stenden, and the Zorg Innovatie Forum (ZIF), puts experienced professionals in the spotlight and helps them remain “fit for work.”

Research and innovation
The project combines practice with scientific research. Through action-oriented intervention research, the effective elements for the sustainable employability of workers are identified. This results in:

  • The development of validated interventions and tools
  • New insights into career development later in life
  • Knowledge that is widely shared with education, HR, and career professionals

What does the project offer?

  • Participation for 500 employees from organizations and companies in the Northern Netherlands
  • Insight into personal talents and development opportunities
  • Exploration of new career perspectives, including financial arrangements
  • Group sessions focused on self-development and approaching retirement with energy
