Language IB 2.jpg

From your first year of study onward, you have the great opportunity to learn a second language at IB. Learning a new language is about more than communication - it is also a gateway to understanding different cultures. As you develop your language skills, you build intercultural awareness and gain the confidence to connect with people from around the world. Moreover, it is also a great help during your placement and study abroad semester.

When applying for the International Business programme, you can choose one of the following languages: Mandarin Chinese, Dutch, German, French or Spanish. In the second year, students with a non-Dutch diploma will follow a compulsory 5-credit Dutch Language & Culture course. All language classes start at level zero.

How do you choose a language? What exactly will you learn and how can you know before the start of your programme what is the best choice? Check out the IB Language Guide to help you make the right decision.
