Via a Networking Event at the start of the Innovation Assignment module, you are enabled to do your research project acquisition. In the following weeks you work in interdisciplinary teams on complex issues from the professional field. This module provides a dynamic combination of co-creation with fellow students and the professional field, academic depth provided by (guest) lectures and professorships, and an evidence-based approach with insights from different disciplinary perspectives.

You start directly after the module Research in Business. The knowledge and skills acquired during Research in Business can be directly applied in the innovation assignment. And you will wok further on your skills supported by different workshops on different research aspects, concepts and methodologies.

The INA combines three elements:

  • Applied research. We believe that innovation results form an evidence-based approach.
  • Innovation. The overall solution to a complex problem is difficult to achieve, but we aim to find an innovative contribution.
  • Interdisciplinarity. The student applies knowledge, skills, theories, models and concepts from more than one discipline in an interdisciplinary context.

The Innovation Assignment starts with a Networking Event. During the event you have to acquire an assignment based on a complex problem. This assignment has to be related to the professional field, e.g., a complex problem a company is struggling with, or a research project from a professorship that has impact on society.

This module prepares you to have an innovative impact on society and business. You work client-oriented: you are required to find innovative solutions. By working together in a team of two students with a different disciplinary background, you are able to not only combine your knowledge and skills, but moreover transcend the boundaries of remaining in your own territory. By bringing your expertise and science together, you will create one integrated plan. As a team you will analyse, synthesize, and harmonize links between the disciplines into a coherent and coordinated whole. This creates a more condensed, specific and goal directed project and will deliver more sustainable solutions.
