As an international student at Hanze, you may be considering staying in the Netherlands to start your career. This minor helps you build the language skills, cultural knowledge, and confidence needed to study, live, and work successfully in a Dutch environment. Immerse yourself in Dutch language and culture while preparing for your next steps in the Netherlands.
The minor Dutch Language & Culture is designed for international students whose native language is not Dutch. It develops your skills in reading, listening, writing, and speaking Dutch while giving you insights into Dutch culture, daily life, and values.
By the end of the programme, you will have achieved Dutch language proficiency at level B2 (CEFR). You will progress from level A2/B1 in the first period to level B1/B2 in the second period, gaining greater confidence in studying, living, and working in the Netherlands. You will also have the option to prepare for the Dutch State Examination (NT2). Please note that the NT2 exam itself is not included in the minor.
This minor combines intensive language learning with cultural immersion, helping you feel confident and prepared to integrate into Dutch academic, social, and professional life. It is the perfect step for international students aiming to build a career in the Netherlands.

Classes are scheduled three times a week for four hours per day, combining intensive language learning with cultural immersion and a strong focus on practical skill development.
This minor is designed for international students whose native language is not Dutch. You should have a Dutch language proficiency of level A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
This minor is open to all international students of Hanze UAS and students of Kies Op Maat-universities.
