Bachelor Composition, Music- and Studio Productions

As a student of Composition, Music- and Studio Productions you will study to become a composer, songwriter or producer, or a combination of those. In the bachelor of CMS you will focus on designing and creating music.

The field in which you will be working after your graduation is constantly changing and boundaries in between musical genres are fading. Within the programme you will thus be working with a wide range of styles and genres and you will come in to contact with all facets of the practice of the modern music professional. After your first year in the CMS programme, you will get the chance to specialize in composition, production, songwriting and media composition.

In order to maintain a strong connection between the CMS programme and the music practice, the content of the programme will constantly be updated to meet the expectations of the field. All teachers of the CMS programme are also active professionals within the field. Next to classes of the regular teaching staff, you will also receive classes by leading producers and composers.

The CMS programme is designed to offer small group sessions, personal attention and individual feedback. The programme is Dutch taught

Alumni of the CMS department are - nationally and internationally - successful in a variety of positions within the field of music.

After graduating

Career opportunities

Graduates work within a combination of arranging, composing and producing. Your arrangements may be heard in concert halls or at home on the CD player. You can work, for example, at a sound and audio-visual studio, or at a theatre. On the one hand, you will notice in professional practice that you work independently a lot, regardless of whether you are composing, arranging or producing. On the other hand though, you will have to work together with all sorts of people during productions. In this ever-changing field, you need to develop knowledge and skills quickly and on your own initiative.
