Update: 8 December 2021

Students and staff are updated again this week on the latest coronavirus developments. The Dutch government has adjusted its testing policy, we call attention to compliance to the basic corona rules, last-minute schedule changes for students and we give an update on the coronavirus entry pass.

Amended testing policy
The Dutch government has amended the advice on testing. This means that you should stay at home if you have symptoms and either get yourself tested at the Municipal Health Service (GGD) or do a self-test. You can order self-test kits for free at zelftestonderwijs.nl. For further information on self-testing, visit this webpage of the government.

Collective responsibility
It has come to our attention that not everyone is complying properly with the basic coronavirus measures that are in force in our buildings. We have a collective responsibility to create a safe environment, so that our doors can remain open. Please comply with the coronavirus measures and remind each other to do so as well.

Coronavirus entry pass
It was announced this week that the proposal to introduce the coronavirus entry pass in the workplace and in education will be debated in the House of Representatives in January.

Last-minute timetable changes for students
Timetables of students may change at the last minute if one of the lecturers is unable to come to Hanze UAS. This could be because of illness, waiting for a test result or following quarantine measures within the lecturer's family. Due to privacy considerations, degree programmes cannot provide information on the reason for the lecturer's absence. We realise that it is inconvenient when things are cancelled at the last minute, but we ask students for their understanding.

Cosy Corners @Hanze
You may have already come across them: our new Cosy Corners. These places have been set up specifically for students, taking into account the applicable coronavirus measures. Pull up a chair and join the fun: there are board games and tasty snacks in all the buildings. All coffee and tea from the vending machines is free for students during the month of December.

No extended Christmas break
There was recently talk in the news about possibly extending the Christmas break. At the moment there are no plans for an extended Christmas break within Dutch higher education. This means that in-person classes will continue until the start of the Christmas holiday on 25 December.
