Studying Dutch Language and Culture will make communicating in your daily life a lot easier and help you integrate into Dutch society much faster. It will also be of advantage to you if you decide to build a career in the Netherlands.
At Hanze University of Applied Sciences, we feel it is important to support students in this area. Therefore, all international bachelor programmes include a 5 EC course in Dutch Language Culture and Culture as an integral part of the curriculum. The course is organised by Hanze Language & Culture Centre (HLCC).
More information about the content of the Dutch course can be found here
After finishing the 5EC Dutch A1 course (coded LCK25DUTA1), you can choose to do a follow-up course on an extracurricular basis, which is free of charge. It is also possible to take a Dutch Language and Culture minor after finishing the 5EC Dutch course, which can be included in your study programme, which will take you up to CEFR language level B2.
Alternatively, you can study Dutch at your own pace after finishing the 5 EC Dutch course. You can improve your Dutch year by year by taking part in courses provided by Hanze Language & Culture Centre. Please note: Higher-level Dutch courses at CEFR language level B1 and B2 level are only available if enough students enrol. The minor includes exam training for the NT2 state exam, which leads to a nationally recognised diploma that provides proof of your proficiency in Dutch.
Information for Bachelor students: The 5EC Dutch Language and Culture course that is embedded in the curriculum, may take place in either the first or second year, depending on the study programme. Upon completion, students will have achieved CEFR language level A1.
Information for Master students: Master students do not have a Dutch language course embedded in their curriculum, but they can take the course as an extracurricular course alongside their programme. This course is also organised by Hanze Language & Culture Centre.
