The Welcome Day is the official and festive start of your Hanze journey, and one of the most exciting moments of the year. This is where everything truly begins.

KEI-week

The KEI Week is the largest introduction week in Groningen, and one of the biggest and most affordable in the Netherlands.

ESN Introduction Week

The ESN Introduction Week is specially designed for international students and is the perfect way to start your life in Groningen! You’ll be placed in a small group, guided by experienced student mentors, and take part in a fun and varied introduction programme. Think of social events, cultural activities, and practical sessions that help you get to know the city, student life, and each other.

It’s a great way to make your first friends, feel at home quickly, and start your international student journey with confidence!

MyHanze is your main source of information before and during your studies. As soon as you receive your login details during the summer, you’ll be able to access this essential student platform.

Here, you can:

• View your timetable and course information
• Find details about your programme introduction
• Check book lists and important updates

Hanze Student Support

Hanze Student Support offers guidance during your studies. You can contact them for questions about your study progress, personal situations or if you need extra support.

Hanze Language and Culture Centre

The Hanze Language & Culture Centre helps you develop your language skills and feel more at home in an international environment. You can take language courses or learn more about Dutch culture.

Financing your studies

Studying abroad comes with financial responsibilities. It is important to make sure you have a clear overview of your finances before and during your studies.

Depending on your situation, you may need to arrange tuition fee payments, show proof of sufficient funds or explore options such as student finance or scholarships.
