Institute for Life Science & Technology

Welcome to the Institute for Life Science & Technology of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences. Next to the master Data Science for Life Sciences we offer four Dutch taught bachelor programmes: Bioinformatics, Biology & Medical Laboratory Research, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Besides this we offer four exchange programmes: Biotechnology (new programme Biochemistry), Renewable Energy, Materials and Processing, Food Ingredients and Health and Bioinformatics for the Life Sciences.

The institute is one of the 17 schools at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen and has around 1000 students. The Institute is distinguished by the personal atmosphere and the rather small student-lecturer distance. For more information visit the Dutch website.

The Research Centre Biobased Economy

Hanze University of Applied Sciences wants to contribute to a healthy and sustainable society. By conducting applied research in collaboration with with SMEs and larger companies we develop concrete and new bio-based products, processes and activities that better fit the market demand. The Research Centre Biobased Economy is where all the knowledge and experience concerning a biobased economy comes together.

Groningen

Situated in the north of the Netherlands, Groningen is a young and vibrant student city, with half of its citizens under the age of 35. Groningen has a population of 202,747 and boasts a picturesque and safe city centre, surrounded by relaxing countryside. The map of the inner city of Groningen dates from the early Middle Ages and many old buildings in the centre still show Groningen's great history. The city is not only historically interesting, however, as it also has impressive modern architecture, excellent and affordable sports facilities as well as a nightlife that never sleeps.
