Admission

The next opportunity to start with Sport Studies is in September 2019. If you applied before or on 1 May 2019, you have the right to be admitted if you meet the entry requirements. If you register after 1 May 2019, the School of Sports Studies may decide to no longer process your registration. If the application is not processed, Sport Studies will contact you. Read here how to register.

Requirements

You must have one of the following qualifications to be admitted to the Sport Studies programme:

  • VWO (Dutch High School diploma, all profiles will allow you to enter the Sport Studies programme)
  • International diploma, equal to the VWO level (secondary education), for example, Allgemeine Hochschulreife (for German students)
  • Students with an old VWO diploma without profiles can hand in a copy of their diploma at the student administration department so it can be assessed.

Please note that all international diploma's will be send to the Nuffic for accreditation according to the Dutch VWO level. When your diploma doesn't match the criteria, you will not be accepted in this study.

All students must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language (minimum IELTS score of 6.0 with no sub-score under 5.5, or comparable score on another test like Cambridge of TOEFL) before commencing the Sport Studies programme.

Additional requirements

Aside from the general qualification, we have two additional requirements.

Matching Day/Matching Assignments

After you have applied via Studielink, you will receive an invitation for the Matching Day and/or Matching Assignments (more on this subject here).

Sports Medical Fitness Test

You will also receive detailed information about the SMFT (Sports Medical Fitness Test). Taking part in these tests is obligatory and will be at your own expense. A Sports Medical Fitness Test will cost you approximately € 75. It is also possible to take a SMFT in your homecountry.

You will be informed on the details of the additional requirements once you have applied for the Sport Studies programme through Studielink.
